Please refer to the airline websites for the most up to date baggage information, as policies continue to change. Check-in time is recommended to be 90 minutes to 2 hours prior to your listed departure time.

The airport terminal doors open at 3:30 a.m. and screening opens at 4:00 a.m.  Most of the airlines at the Quad City International Airport CLOSE THEIR COUNTERS TO PASSENGER CHECK-IN 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO FLIGHT TIME. Most airlines also expect passengers to be in the boarding gate area 20 - 30 minutes prior to flight time. Please be aware of these requirements as you make your plans to come to the airport, and allow yourself enough time to check in and go through the screening area.

If your flight is delayed, you should NOT change your originally planned arrival time to the airport. Delayed times can be cancelled or changed. Most airlines require you to be in the gate area 30 minutes prior to the scheduled flight time, even if the flight gets delayed. Contact your air carrier for further details. It is always a good idea to double check displayed flight delay status with the airline's 800 number or their web site.

Listed below are the airlines associated with the Quad City International Airport.  We have listed the times the airline counters open for your convenience.  *Please note, these counter opening times are subject to change, and it is the passenger's responsibility to arrive in plenty of time for check-in, screening, and arrival to the gate area. If you have screening or packing concerns, please refer to the traveler questions section of this web site.

Our ticketing terminal has multiple entrances from the curb and is where all airline check-in occurs. This terminal is considered the public side of the terminal. There is a gift shop, art gallery, rental car agencies, small observation platform, and passenger arrival waiting area in this terminal. Non-ticketed passengers are not allowed past the security checkpoint (some exceptions apply.) Once through the screening checkpoint, you reach the terminal concourses, A and B.

The concourses are 5 years old. Concourse B opened in November of 2000 along with a large atrium area containing a terrazzo floor (designed as a birds-eye view of the Quad Cities), a deli/snack bar, bar, and CNBC gift shop. Concourse A opened in summer of 2001. Once through screening turn left for concourse A for American, Delta, and Northwest gates. Turn right past screening for concourse B, including Northwest, United Express, and AirTran Airways gates. Click on terminal map below for an enlarged view of the terminal layout.

What is the difference between Short-Term, and Long-Term?
Two things: Price and location. Short-Term spaces are CLOSER to the terminal building, so they are at a premium. Cost is $12.00 per day, whereas Long-Term spaces are only $6.00 per day. (See above chart.) Most people select Short-Term for pick-up and drop-off, greeting family, and so forth. Anyone is welcome to park in either lot and there is no limit on the number of days your car stays in our lot. If you exit the short-term lot through the gate arm and enter into long-term parking, and if it is your intention to park in long-term, you must exit the lot completely and re-enter under a long-term parking ticket. Otherwise, since you pulled a short-term ticket, your parking is being charged at the short-term rate.

Long-Term and Short-Term parking entrances
There are multiple Long-Term parking entrances as you follow the frontage road in from the interstate, or airport road. There is only one Short-Term parking lot entrance which may be accessed from the left lanes as you approach the terminal building. If you miss the Short-Term entrances, you must circle around the frontage road again. Follow signs to "return to terminal".

Passenger Drop-Off and Pick-up
The inside and outside pick-up and drop-off lanes are open for ATTENDED VEHICLES ONLY. You may pick up and drop off passengers and a grace period will be granted for attended vehicles picking up and dropping off passengers. DO NOT AT ANY TIME leave your vehicle UNATTENDED while picking up or dropping off your party at the curb. This is not allowed, and your full cooperation is appreciated. Please note that this allowance is subject to change at any time, in accordance with the TSA, or for reasons of National Security.

Travel Tips

How many bags can you check on the airplane?
Check with your individual airline for their rules and regulations as they continue to change their policies.

What is the maximum size for a carry-on bag?
The most common size is 9 x 14 x 22, but airlines may vary by a few inches. All five airlines at the QCIA have a two carry-on-bag limit. Personal items, such as a purse or briefcase, are considered as one of the two items. Many airlines offer gate checking for carry on items.

How soon should I be at the airport before my flight is scheduled to leave?
You should be at the airport 90 minutes to two hours before your flight is scheduled to leave. After you are cleared at the airline counter, you should proceed to the screening checkpoint where further screening will be conducted. Most airlines require you to be at the airline gate 20 - 30 minutes prior to departure time for boarding. All boarding announcements will be made by the airline.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age do you have to have a picture I.D.?
Passengers eighteen years or older must have a government issued, photo I.D. Examples include a state-issued drivers license, state I.D. card, military I.D., or passport. Children 18 and under DO need a passport if traveling internationally.

Should I pack my film in a carry-on or have it check through in my luggage?
The TSA has recently released new information about transporting film. In short, it says that ALL film should be placed in your carry on bag, along with a warning that states: "Equipment used for screening checked baggage will damage your undeveloped film." For more information refer to the TSA Travel Tips website at TSATravelTips.US, and read the Special Considerations topic, which includes a descriptive page regarding the inspection of film.

What if I have a pacemaker? Can I go through the metal detector?
The TSA Travel Tips Website states: "It is recommended (but not a requirement) that individuals with a pacemaker carry a Pacemaker Identification Card (ID) when going through airport security. Advise the screener that you have an implanted pacemaker. Show the screener your pacemaker ID, if you have one, and ask the screener to conduct a pat-down inspection rather than having you walk through the metal detector or be hand-wanded."

What happens if I can't make my flight?
You need to contact the airline or call your travel agent as soon as you know you will be missing your flight. Each airline has its own method of handling this situation. Some airlines have penalties and fees associated with missing notification deadlines (such as 24 hours prior to your flight, or midnight the night before your flight.) If you are delayed or cancelled due to weather and you have been checked in at the counter or are in the terminal, listen to appropriate airline announcements or check with the airline counter.

Hints for Travel:
1. Verify your reservations and flight times 24 hours before you leave. Leave itineraries, including flight times and flight numbers, with any friends or relatives who may be checking on the status of your incoming or outgoing flight.

2. Put your name and address on the outside and inside of your luggage or anything else you are carrying with you (i.e. - camera bags, shopping bags, any new purchases).  Any valuables must be placed in your carry on bags.

3. Remember, unattended bags are not allowed anywhere in the terminal. Do not walk away from your bags or possessions at any time!
